How to Give Your Developer Access in PayPal Business Account
When we set up your PayPal integration in your WooCommerce store, we may need developer access to your PayPal account. This allows us to create and configure the API keys securely, without you having to share your personal login details.
Video Guide:
Here’s how you can grant us access:
Step 1 – Log in to PayPal Business
Go to PayPal.com and log in with your Business Account credentials.
Make sure you’re using the Business Dashboard, not a personal PayPal account.
Step 2 – Open User Management
In the top-right corner, click the gear icon (⚙ Settings).
From the menu, choose Account Settings.
In the left-hand menu, select Account Access.
Under Manage Users, click Update.
Step 3 – Add a New User
Click Add User (sometimes labelled Add staff member).
-
Enter the following details for us:
Login ID: (you can make this something like support@mlosupport.zendesk.com
Name: Media Links Online
-
Tick the permissions we need:
API Access (to create API credentials)
View balance & transactions (read-only access)
Process transactions (optional — only if we are setting up live payments)
⚠️ Important: Do not give us access to withdraw funds or close the account. We only need permissions related to API setup.
Save the new user.
Step 4 – Confirm Access
Once you’ve added us, we will receive an email from PayPal to accept the invitation.
After we accept, we’ll log in with the developer account and configure the API credentials for your WooCommerce shop.
Step 5 – Security Tip
Once the integration is fully working and signed off:
You can keep our developer access for ongoing support, or
You can remove it anytime by going back into Manage Users → Select User → Remove.
✅ That’s it! You’ve now given us developer access so we can set up PayPal in your WooCommerce store without needing your personal login.
